We Feed Raw – At A Glance

A raw diet offers numerous benefits for dogs, including improved dental health, a shinier coat, healthier skin, and increased energy levels. Many pet owners also report better digestion after making the switch to raw food.

We Feed Raw enhances its meals by adding essential vitamins and minerals to ensure a balanced diet. While some may assume that feeding grocery store ground beef is enough, it often lacks the full range of nutrients needed for optimal canine health. Though human-grade, store-bought meat doesn’t provide the carefully formulated nutrition that We Feed Raw delivers.

Recipes

We Feed Raw utilizes high-pressure processing (HPP) to eliminate bacteria while maintaining the nutritional integrity of the food. Unlike many dog food delivery services that cook their meals before packaging, this method neutralizes pathogens without the need for heat, which can break down essential nutrients. This ensures your pet gets all the benefits of raw food while minimizing the risk of bacterial exposure for both you and your dog.

Protein Types

We Feed Raw offers six frozen raw meal options: chicken, duck, beef, venison, lamb, and turkey, along with two freeze-dried raw recipes—chicken and beef. The lamb and venison are pasture-raised and grass-fed in New Zealand, while all other meats are sourced from the United States. Customers can take a quiz to identify the most suitable meals for their dog, receiving personalized recommendations while still having the flexibility to select their preferred meal types and recipes. Additionally, the Essentials box, available in three sizes, includes raw frozen meals in beef, turkey, and lamb.

We Feed Raw meals consist of finely ground meat, organ meat, and bones, ensuring a natural source of calcium and fiber. These meals are free from fillers, preservatives, artificial colors, and flavors, and all meats used are of human-grade quality.

Ingredients

Each recipe is fortified with a nutrient-rich blend of essential vitamins and minerals. This premix includes flaxseed, a source of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids; calcium carbonate to support bone development and dental health; a vitamin E supplement for cell health; as well as riboflavin and folic acid for overall nutritional balance.

The freeze-dried recipes consist of 85% meat and organ meat, with the remaining 15% made up of phytonutrients from fruits and vegetables, vitamins, minerals, and omega-3s,. These meals are specifically formulated for adult dogs, so puppies should stick to the raw meal options. Like the raw meals, they contain no corn, grains, wheat, artificial preservatives, soy, or legumes. They are shelf-stable and can be served dry or rehydrated with warm water for added moisture.

Nutritional Value

The Guaranteed Analysis varies by recipe to reflect the unique characteristics of each protein source. For example, the raw Chicken recipe contains a minimum of 13% Crude Protein, 10% Crude Fat, and 1% Crude Fiber.

Here are the minimum Crude Protein percentages for the other frozen raw recipes:

  • Beef: 12.2%
  • Duck: 12.6%
  • Lamb: 13.9%
  • Turkey: 12.8%

Among these, the Turkey recipe has the lowest Crude Fat content at a minimum of 6.6%. Despite slight variations in nutritional composition, the caloric content remains fairly consistent across recipes, ranging from 47 to 51 kcal per ounce.

Each recipe is produced in a USDA-certified facility that adheres to the stringent standards of BRC-safe quality food manufacturing. To minimize the presence of harmful bacteria, all meats undergo a cold-pressing process. This method ensures food safety without relying on heat, chemicals, preservatives, or additives.

How it works?

We Feed Raw offers both subscription-based orders and Essentials box purchases. No account or subscription is required to order the Essentials box, but you can easily convert a one-time purchase into a subscription during checkout.

Ordering Process:

  1. Start Your Meal Plan: Click the large red “Create Your Meal Plan” button on We Feed Raw’s homepage.
  2. Complete the Introductory Quiz: Answer a few questions about your pet’s health, weight, age, activity level, and any allergies.
  3. Enter Your Email Address: This step creates your account, which We Feed Raw will use for all future communications unless updated.
  4. Select Your Trial Meals: Based on your quiz responses, We Feed Raw will recommend meal options, though you can make your own selections.
  5. Provide Payment & Shipping Details: Once your first order is placed, you’ll have an account to track shipments and manage subscriptions.

The We Feed Raw account page is user-friendly, providing quick access to meal plans, order history, and delivery schedules. However, canceling a subscription can be a bit tricky, as the option is tucked away under “Edit Your Meal Plan.”

Modifying orders or adjusting delivery dates is simple and requires just a few clicks along with a reason for the change. Updating your address is also hassle-free, and you can easily switch meal plans or skip deliveries directly from your account. Email reminders about upcoming orders and modification deadlines help ensure you don’t miss any important changes.

Since the products are perishable, returns are not accepted. However, if your order is lost or arrives damaged before it reaches you, a refund may be issued. In such cases, you’ll need to contact customer service for assistance.

Pricing

While many dog food delivery services require a subscription, We Feed Raw offers the flexibility to place one-time bulk orders. For those who prefer a consistent supply of raw food tailored to their dog’s nutritional needs, a subscription option is available. However, customers are free to order as needed without any commitments.

The initial trial box was priced at $75.69 and lasted 14 days as a meal topper, averaging about $2.67 per meal. This price included an automatic first-time buyer discount. For subsequent orders, the cost increases to $220, or $55 per week, bringing the per-meal price to $3.92, without the introductory discount.

The cost after the trial period depends on your dog’s size, but shipping remains free. For example, a 25-pound dog’s weekly cost is just over $40, while a 50-pound dog’s weekly cost is around $65. The delivery frequency after the trial also varies based on size.

For a more flexible option, consider the Essentials box, available in three sizes: Small, Classic, and Big. Each box contains 18 or 24 frozen raw single-protein patties in beef, lamb, and turkey. You can purchase it as a one-time order or subscribe for deliveries every 2 to 6 weeks.

Shipping

The initial delivery process lacked clarity. Unlike competitors such as Ollie, The Farmer’s Dog, and Chewy, which provide estimated delivery dates upfront, We Feed Raw only confirmed that tracking details would be sent in a future email.

This lack of immediate information was inconvenient, particularly for customers in cities where package retrieval timing is essential. An order placed on a Tuesday did not receive a shipping update until Sunday, leaving uncertainty about the delivery timeline.

Once the order was shipped, tracking was simple using the UPS link provided. The system specified a delivery date once the package arrived at the local UPS facility, though it did not provide an exact time in advance.

Customer Support

Accessing customer support on We Feed Raw is simple. The FAQ section is prominently displayed as a tab at the top of the website, directing users to a detailed help page.

For further assistance, additional contact options are listed at the bottom of the FAQ page, including email, live chat, and phone support. The customer service team is available Monday through Sunday from 9 AM to 5 PM ET. You can also find helpful information on We Feed Raw’s social media channels, including YouTube, TikTok, Facebook, and Instagram.

Canceling a subscription requires a few steps but is generally straightforward. During the process, the website presents options to retain customers, such as alternative order types or pop-ups with solutions—like transition tips for pets with dietary concerns. To finalize the cancellation, users must type “CANCEL” to confirm, and an email confirmation is sent within seconds.

Customer support is responsive and courteous throughout the cancellation process and general inquiries. While they may offer deals to encourage customers to continue their subscription, they ultimately respect the decision once the cancellation is completed.

Before this ends…
